Up close
Gobelin painting is a language developed by Miriam Schlossberg: layer upon layer of oil paint woven onto the canvas into the texture of an antique Gobelin tapestry. From a distance, a flower appears. Up close, every centimeter is a weave of color, light and movement – a painting that invites you to come closer.
On every painting page you can zoom in and see the texture up close.
03 · About the artist
Miriam Schlossberg was born in Moscow to a painter father and an art-critic mother, and grew up in her father’s studio, among the smells of turpentine and paint. In 1987 she immigrated to Israel, where she studied with Rachel Shavit, Yossi Rosenstein and Arie Berkovitz.
She has developed a style of her own, Gobelin painting: flower paintings in oil on canvas, born of emotion and classical music and woven onto the canvas like a tapestry.
She has a distinctive artistic DNA, one that cannot be imitated
